9″ of Snow + a New Terrain Park

Wednesday’s winter storm dropped an impressive 9″ of snow! We’re excited to ski the powder when Pajarito re-opens this Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday – plus, a second storm looks like it could make its way to our mountain starting late Sunday or early Monday (click here for the forecast).

We typically open 21 trails and our Aspen, Beginner and Mighty Mite lifts on weekdays. Thanks to this week’s snow, we’re going to open 32 trails and four lifts: Mother, Aspen, Beginner and Mighty Mite for all four days. We’ll also open Lone Spruce on Saturday and Sunday.

I’m also very proud to announce that our mountain crew has worked hard to open Pajarito’s first terrain park of the season, the Rail Yard. Featured prominently in the base area, this beginner park offers 6 features (2 boxes and 4 rails) and gives everyone – from first-timers to park rats – the opportunity to display their skills. There’s a big “wow” factor for everyone with the Rail Yard!

One of the great things about this park is how easy it is to access – you can easily do laps on our beginner lift to reach it (or hike up and down) and, thanks to its proximity to our lodge, you can even hear the live music that will be playing on Saturday during our Beer and Band event (featuring Blue Heron Brewery and The Craig Martin Experience!) For all of our weekend events, please click here.

I want to say a special thanks to Tom Long and his staff for their hard work – they continue to find ways to keep expanding our operations, and I’m proud of the work they’ve done. We’ll keep you posted on additional developments here.

Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at Pajarito

After last weekend’s amazing 15″ of snow, Tom Long and our team have made the decision to open Fridays through Mondays at Pajarito. Our goal continues to be daily operations, and we will adjust and improve this schedule as needed – for now, we are thrilled to introduce four-day-a-week operations. Please check Pajarito’s snow report for updates on snow conditions, lift openings and trail counts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend. The powder was amazing and we finally topped the snow report charts in terms of snowfall in New Mexico.

Over the weekend, many of you heard about and some of you sat on lifts that experienced issues. For those who were affected, we sincerely apologize for these separate and unrelated lift issues. Chair lifts include equipment that is literally thousands of feet long with parts that are exposed to the harshest of elements. Like every ski area, Pajarito has a maintenance staff who are dedicated to maintaining and fixing lifts, and I am proud of the job our team did over the weekend. This week, our team has addressed the issues we pinpointed over the weekend to help prevent them from happening again.

I’m also pleased to announce the return of two very popular events this weekend: the K2 Women’s Weekend and our first Beer and Band event happen this Saturday. For a full list of upcoming events, please click here.

Thanks again for all of your support, and we look forward to seeing you on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday at Pajarito!
