The Snow Keeps Coming

It’s been a snowy holiday!

We picked up 2″ of snow last night to bring us to 30″ for the week – and it’s been incredible. The skiing and snowboarding are truly outstanding, and we couldn’t be more excited to have our 5 lifts and 32 trails open and available everyday through this Sunday, January 3 (after that, we’ll bump to Wednesday through Sunday operations).

Unfortunately, the recent winter storms also delivered some tremendous wind that’s taken down several trees. We were able to clear Rim Run, I Don’t Care and One More Time to get those trails groomed and back open, although the downed trees on the far West Side have made Ma Bell and Gene’s Choice inaccessible for quite some time.

The wind may have closed a couple of trails, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. As seen in today’s Santa Fe New Mexican story (click here to read it), Mother Nature is bringing snow to our mountain, and all of us – our guests, our families, our staff – are really enjoying it (and it’s great to see so many people here, but know this: you still won’t have to wait in a lift line).

We’ve come so far already this season, and yet I can’t help but think: there’s even more good things to come.

Tree on Breathless

Today was a great day at Pajarito! It was fun to see so many people on our mountain, enjoying the powder! Thank you to everyone who joined us.

We were able to open the local-favorite Fab Four (which include bump runs Nuther Mother, Sidewinder, Breathless and Precious), and the conditions were fantastic. Unfortunately, sometime between the two winter storms this past week, a tree came down on Breathless between the two Zero Roads. For those of you who saw it, you know it was a very large tree. We tried (unsuccessfully) to remove the tree by hand and had to bring a snow cat to push it off the trail. This evening, we’re winching (which is the process used for grooming very steep terrain) our way down the trail to clean things up – which means Breathless will be groomed tomorrow.

We hate to groom this popular bump run, although with the downed tree on the trail, we really had no choice. We will not be grooming Nuther Mother, Sidewinder and Precious.

Again, thank you to everyone who has skied or snowboarded with this this winter, and to those who will be visiting our mountain over the next days and weeks. As a reminder, Pajarito is open for daily operations now through January 3!

Powder Weekend at Pajarito

This has been a very good week in New Mexico and an exceptionally snowy one at Pajarito. Thanks to our state’s two back-to-back winter storms, our mountain received nearly 2 feet of snow (another inch last night brought our total to 22”), and we’ve been working all week to prepare for our re-opening tomorrow.

In light of the incredible snow, I’m very excited to announce that beginning this Saturday, we will have nearly every trail open (everything from Bonanza to the west – including the Fab Four and our brand new trail, Redemption!) We’re grooming select trails but most will be open for powder skiing.

You are going to love it!
